“Having read Andrew Robert’s Winston Churchill book and the significance of the Battle of Britain during WWII- I was glad that Liverpool has developed this museum, and also a must for all war enthusiasts. Located just a five-minute walk from Albert Dock, this museum offers an interesting insight into Liverpool’s role during the Battle of the Atlantic. However, when compared to the Churchill War Rooms in London, it falls noticeably short. While it has potential, the experience feels underdeveloped and could benefit from greater attention to detail. Book directly with the tour guide and DO NOT book the tour with the “live guide” (about $48 US per person) because it doesn’t include the hop on-off benefit AND you’ll pay less on the tour operator website. You are stuck on the bus for 2 hours with the driver you’ve got. No on-off privileges. Our guide (and older gentleman) spoke SO fast, mixing in English humor and sarcasm within such a thick accent that we couldn’t understand the majority of what he said.
